We are in Laos! Yes, now we’re at the Heritage Burasari Hotel. A really beautiful, colonial hotel, located at the riverside of the Mekong. Yes, right there to be precise.
It feels exactly like the ancient times. We were picked up by vintage cars: a vintage Mercedes. Really cool! We’re about to explore Laos. The first stop is the Kuang Si Waterfall. This waterfall is very famous and beautiful, so we can’t wait! We’re here! There they are: the Kuang Si Waterfalls! Check it out! We’re on top of the waterfall. Wow! The view is amazing! No, honestly. We’ll show it! We’re at the foot of Mount Phousi; it’s a pretty weird name. It’s a mountain in the middle of Luang Prabang’s city center. They said that the sunsets and sunrises are beautiful at the top, because there’s a 360֯ view. It’s considered a sacred area, because you see monks standing at the left side. You see many different buddha temples during the trip upwards. Local people go to these temples and offer sacrifices and so on. So, nice stops in between! We did it! The highlight of Mount Phousi! A nice temple and a nice view. Have a look around: 360-degrees all the way! It’s almost nighttime in Laos and we’re about to leave for a sunset cruise. Did you guys know that this river where we’re sailing on now, part is of UNESCO World Heritage? Actually, just like the whole city of Luang Prabang. Good morning! It’s 5:25 am. We’re ready for the ritual of the monks. Over there are seats for people, ready to give food to the monks. The monks should arrive within a few minutes. Behind us is a bamboo bridge. It’s really special, because a local family builds it every year. Yes, it’s only possible to build the bridge during dry season. And we’re about to cross the bridge! We’re now halfway and it’s quite an adventure! We still have to walk this part of the bridge. As you can see it’s not really straight, and the bamboo is also quite bendable . So, you can go on a complete tour. You can take one bridge there, have a little walk around and then return via a different bridge. However, that one is probably owned by a different family, which means extra fees. Well, this bridge is very improvised, don’t you think? Local, local you call it. The end of our adventure in Laos is nearby. But we will end our adventure in the best way possible! Yes, because we’re enjoying a typical crêpe, as the locals call it. A pancake with nutella! There are quite a lot of French influences here and pancakes are one of them. We’re going to enjoy it and we’ll see you at the next episode in Thailand! Bye!
